Lancaster, SC – HOPE in Lancaster, Inc. has received $1,725 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents.  HOPE in Lancaster, Inc. will use the gift to help purchase cheese, milk and yogurt for clients who are part of HOPE’s Senior Health and Wellness Pantry.

“HOPE is so appreciative of the support from Food Lion Feeds which helps us provide nutritious food and educational classes to 200 low-income seniors age 65 and above on a monthly basis.” said Bekah Clawson, Executive Director  HOPE has been in existence for 37 years and “provides assistance, resources and referrals that allow individuals and families in crisis situations the opportunity to recover from and move beyond short-term emergencies”. In addition, the Senior Health and Wellness pantry eliminates hunger and increases client’s “fresh” food staples, so they can put nutritious meals on their table.  The educational classes HOPE offers provide nutrition education that aids in eliminating the health risk of aging adults.

Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
